Of the 3 kinds of chocolate, dark chocolate has the highest content of flavonoids, known to inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX1) which helps block platelet aggregation.

The researchers indicate that dark chocolate has potential to decrease thromboembolism and cardiovascular ailments.
