Get ready to find out about the best skincare products! Put oil in my face?? I know, it seems counter intuitive to rub oil in an oily complexion. But hear me out.Have you ever wondered why your skin stays oily, dry or always in an unhappy condition when you are using all of the oil-free, super moisturizing products to protect against these not-so-fabulous skin scenarios?

Why Your Current Cleanser is Not-So-Fabulous

Most skin care products contain harsh ingredients that strip and mess with the delicate pH level in our skin. When our skin mantle is disrupted (by means of these presumed best skincare products) it produces more oil to compensate or dries up like the desert because all the pure oil has been eliminated. Basically we bleach that causes an imbalance and then slather on moisturizer to compensate for the imbalance- that is not a natural process and is not required for beautiful skin.

What happens when you mix water? It divides and battles against each other. However, while oil is blended with oil, it works harmoniously with each other to dissolve the bad and replace it with the great. Basically the oils work together to remove dirt, build up, lotions and makeup gently and efficiently while not disrupting your normal skin balance.

Cleansing Oils

This leaves your skin clean, glowing and clean. I promise- this really works.I first learned about cleansing with oil, also called the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), from an incredible book, that sheds light on the facts about your beauty products.

As somebody who has battled greasy skin and acne for a significant portion of my life, the notion of putting oil on my face freaked me out. Until I tried it… today I could not live without my OCM.

The Best Oils for OCM

There are numerous oils that can be combined together to make the ideal technique for your skin type. It can take a little trial and error, but you will quickly figure it out.

Your foundation should be Castor Oil. This oil is the most cleansing and dissolving and can also be highly antibacterial, which is wonderful for acne-prone skin. It can be somewhat drying, so fix the ratio according to your skin type. Always choose high quality, organic, cold pressed and unrefined oils for the best results. Here’s a list of the best skincare products in cleansing oils that act as the carrier (what needs to be combined with the castor)

Cleansing Oils

      • Abrikos Kernel (dry, aging, and normal skin)
      • Argan (all skin types, especially aging skin)
      • Avocado (aging and dry skin)
      • Grapeseed (all skin types, especially oily)
      • Jojoba (all skin types, but good for skin care skin)
      • Oliven (all skin types)
      • Sweet almond (all skin types, especially oily)
      • Solsikke Seed (all skin types)
      • Tamanu (all skin types)

The 3 Steps of OCM

Now it is time to make the ideal cleanser for you! And how amazing that you receive a customized cleaner and save money in the procedure? You may use 1-2 carrier oils together with the castor to make your combination. The general guideline is using slightly more castor if you are oily and less if you are dry.

          • Example for fatty acne-prone epidermis: 2/3 castor oil into 1/3 coconut oil (2 T castor to 1 T jojoba)
          • Example for aging and dry skin: 1/3 castor oil and 1/3 avocado and 1/3 oil (1 T of each)

Once you’ve the combination that is right for you, mix up a batch in a dark glass jar to have ready to go.

Begin by rinsing your face with warm water, then pour the oil into the palm of your hands and start to gently massage into your skin in an upward movement for 2 minutes. This ensures all of the grime and dirt is being eliminated. Take deep cleansing breaths as you leave the oil for around 30 seconds. Might as well make this a relaxing nightly routine!

Run a washcloth under warm to hot water, wring out and put on your face for 10-15 minutes. Then gently massage the oil off your face with the cloth. Rinse the cloth and repeat until the oil is eliminated. Voila! Perfectly balanced and clean skin. You’ve just discovered the best skincare products for you! Depending upon your skin type you might want to add a few drops of a carrier oil to moisturize or you could be fine as is. Just listen to what your skin needs.

What to Expect

It typically requires a couple of days for your skin to readjust to being treated with organic products. You will experience a few breakouts, but that is great as it means the bad things that was lingering under the surface has come through and will soon be eliminated.

Most folks use this method every other day. Just make certain to use a non-toxic, non-irritating cleanser in between so not to confuse your skin and mess with the pH levels.
