Wie funktioniert Fear?

When fear is sensed, the part of the brain involved in fear automatically reacts. It triggers behaviors like a racing heart, anxiety, or sweaty palms. If the fear is related to doubts about your own ability, the fear will make it possible for you to think of an excuse why you can’t accomplish your task.

The procedure for fear is completely subconscious. You’re driven to believe, believe, and act based upon the fear you originally perceived. If the perceived anxiety is funneled through adverse past encounters, the subconscious mind injects even more uncertainty and you feel immobile, paralyzed, not able to make it past step one.

Because we as people do everything to prevent pain or distress in our lives, we give in to the fears we’re fed with our subconscious. This fear prevents you from attempting the first move. There may be times your ambition pulsates in you and motivates you to get it beyond the first step but the distress and doubts created by anxiety can be much more powerful than your own ambitions which you can’t follow through.

Over time, this fear eats away in the self-confidence. You start to develop excuses why things can not get done. You play the victim role. You feel sorry for yourself. You become depressed. Your self-esteem requires a dip – all in the name of fear.

Unfortunately, this is thought number 49. The people in your life have heard it so many times that they listen to a hype to be considerate. You start to develop a reputation for”all talk and no action”. Your self-confidence gradually becomes eroded. How often has this happened to you? What do you think contributes to this syndrome? So as to make the bridge out of dream to attaining your aims, you must take care of the fear factor in your life. You might feel fearless in different regions of life but in this area of goal success there’s something sabotaging you every moment. That something is fear.

Once fear is allowed to erode your self-confidence it stays in control of your life, lurking inside the subconscious. Each failed attempt or every time something is avoided because of fear, this fearful behaviour is reinforced even more. That fear is subsequently moved to all areas of your life. The erosion of your self-confidence simultaneously affects your self-esteem. The self-critic dominates your thought process and self doubt inevitably moves in as one begins to experience what many term “fear of success”. If the fear isn’t addressed it continues to sabotage your every movement.

The fear many of you encounter that holds you back could be triggered by our culture, social structure, and values. Modern culture defines success in terms of wealth, fame, or prestige. We’re compared to those standards and judged accordingly. If your degree of confidence in your skills aren’t sufficiently developed to feel relatively capable a sense of fear takes over. This leads to anxiety. Here is where the conditioning starts. Over time, as this fear is experienced, this learned behaviour becomes ingrained in the mind.

Fear conditioning destroys your self-image. It puts you under enormous stress as you believe you can’t live up to your personal expectations or even worse the increased expectations which are dictated by our culture.

Overcoming Fear, Don’t Fear!

You’re currently aware of the power fear can have more than you. You might have blamed your inability to gain your achievement momentum to fear. You have to learn how to overcome fear and discard this albatross that sabotages your ability to accomplish your targets. But how?

You must first make that choice for CHANGE. You have to decide whether to allow your fears to ruin any plans you have for the future or to break free of these. It’s a choice, yes a choice you have to make. Spend some time to look way down in the recesses of your heart and decide what fears are holding you back. Make a list of those. You’re the only person who truly knows the fear that binds you. You’re the only person who can free yourself from your own fear. Decide to give up the victim role that fear has you living in and make the attempt to let it vanish from your life. This is the first step towards overcoming anxiety.

The next step to overcoming anxiety is consciousness. Be able to recognize when fear has control of you and evaluate that fear. Acknowledge it out loud and ask “what am I afraid would happen to me”? What do I need to lose for trying? What am I afraid of? Write them down. Stop and try to imagine how your life will be if you resisted the fear. Consider how good it would feel. Consider the opportunities missed by allowing the fear to keep in control.

Now that you understand what you are truly scared of try to tackle the fears. If it’s lack of knowledge, figure out ways to educate yourself about the topic matter. Take a program, do the research on the internet, find a mentor, a life coach. Associate with people who will promote and guide you. Address all of the reasons why you are feeling fearful and diffuse the fear. As you gain more understanding that your level of confidence will increase simultaneously. High self-confidence will replace doubts and fear.

Positive self-talk is another way to reinforce confidence and reduce fear. Giving positive self-affirmations is a sort of self-conditioning that replaces the doubts lodged in the subconscious. Remind yourself that “you can” achieve.
