There are numerous supposed remedies for acne and related skin disorders because there are causes, therefore no wonder most young (and not so young) people afflicted by this criticism do not know quite how to manage it.
All of us know that sometimes the remedy is often as bad as the disease, and it is no different with what I’ll refer to simply as acne in this report. But there’s almost certainly a combination of treatments which will successfully assist you in your individual circumstance.
This guide will cover briefly the causes of acne, the well-known “orthodox” remedies, herbal remedies plus a few “direct action” techniques which have a fantastic record of success. Never forget that there is guaranteed to be SOME therapy or technique that is right for you. But you’ll have to assess the sort of skin you have and also the probable cause of your acne before you will see it.

Chocolate and other sugary foods do NOT cause acne any more than fruit and veggies can act as the treatment. What DOES usually cause it’s an excess of a specific protein called keratin that’s generated by the skin cells to stop your skin drying up. This surplus is subsequently set off by things like stress, prolonged exposure to sunlight, and seasonal fluctuations.
The excess keratin clumps together and will block the oil ducts inside your hair follicles. This stops the oil escaping onto the surface of the skin (tending to cause dryness of the skin). This mixture is added to by bacteria naturally present on your hair follicles and becomes trapped just beneath the surface of the skin, hence pimples, spots, blackheads, and so forth.
So what we must do is find a means of preventing the keratin from blocking the ducts and pores of your skin. Or, better still, preventing excess keratin from forming in the first location. Most orthodox, or over-the-counter, remedies focus on handling your pimples or spots to be able to induce them to open up and release their contents, thus resolving the issue.
Many of these remedies offer a reasonable solution for many individuals, at least in the short term. But the problem with most of these remedies is that they have side effects. Because they aim to heal your condition by drying up the extra moisture within the stains, invariably they also increase the dryness of the skin surrounding the spots also. This often produces further aggravation, which brings the process full circle with further outbreaks of acne.
Certain antibiotics and drugs used in such treatments have additional side effects, such as nausea, headaches, joint and bone pain and even, in rare instances, tendonitis. So what about herbal remedies that can’t offer any unpleasant side effects? How successful are they?
Probably the best known herbal remedy is by the blossom. Eating the leaves in a salad or after steaming them gives you their vitamins and minerals, many of which help maintain healthy skin by helping with digestion and helping the body to rid itself of bacteria.
You may create a refreshing tea from the roots by drying and then chopping and roasting them. Put 2 teaspoonfuls of these into a quarter of a litre of water and simmer for 20 minutes. Aim to drink 3 to 4 cups of the daily.
If you want a more direct treatment, it is possible to take some lavender oil, which is antibacterial and anti inflammatory, and dab it on individual spots with a cotton bud. If you want, use pure aloe vera instead.
And if you wish to try a natural remedy on a slightly bigger scale, you can try placing some fruits, like grapes and pineapple husks or strawberries in a blender and creating a puree of these, and then applying it to your face as a mask for 10 to 15 minutes before washing off. This may help eliminate excess amounts of keratin and dead skin cells which are probably blocking your pores.
Is there anything you can do for yourself that DOESN’T involve placing a variety of concoctions in your face? If you are a girl, check your cosmetics, and try to avoid products containing lanolins, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulphate, laureth-4 and red dyes. Rinse off your makeup thoroughly every night and wash with mild soap twice daily.
Makeup can be analyzed for oil saturation simply by putting a generous portion on a sheet of bond paper and leaving around 24 hours. Then check it to determine just how large the ring of grease is. A major ring betrays excess oil in the cosmetics.
A few quick tips
Avoid eating fish, as it always contains iodine, which excretes through the oil glands, irritating the pores. If you are applying drugs direct to your acne, spread it over the entire area, not only the spots themselves, and half an inch all round to provide the best chance of succeeding. And cleanse your skin thoroughly before each use of over-the-counter drugs.
Finally, try a little TLC for your skin. Give your face a bit affectionate squeeze. It seems crazy but it works. Your affected skin is most likely crying out for a little massage to allow it to get rid of excess oils and keratin. Move it around a little two or three times daily. Stretch it gently in all directions, but do not pinch. You and your skin will feel much better because of it.
If you are frequently stressed out and you believe that leads to your acne, find both points at the base of your skull on both sides of the back of your neck and press them lightly but firmly for a moment at a time with your elbows. Breathe deeply and relax. If you do this two or three times per day following a week or so you will probably be pleasantly surprised by how your acne is receding.
So never give up. Assess your condition and surroundings and determine the most likely course of action and the best medications for you. You won’t get results immediately, but with a little perseverance you may relieve your condition to a greater extent than you believed possible.
