There are many actions you can take so that your body can do what it was designed to do: protect you from disease and viruses. The very first thing to notice in your life if you opt to give your immune system a helping hand is if you get sufficient rest. Your body can’t operate on empty continually and work effectively to keep you free of disease.

Good to know

We appear to have lost the fine art of resting, believing rather that we have to keep going, create something, look occupied. But how successful is that in the long term when it keeps stress levels high among the general populace? We’re aware that stress releases disease-friendly compounds into the body, but up to this pointwe seem incapable of making the necessary alterations. Even if we do think we’re resting, the tv is on, or the computer, or another gadget.

Healthy lifestyle

In my work I talk with many men and women who say they feel more anxiety when they slow down and really take breaks from their overcommitted lives. Somehow we have bought into the notion that when we’re doing something we’re being successful (and precious). I also feel that we suffer from what we find and feel when we finally stop the insanity and just settle in with nothing else but our own insecurities. What if we don’t have any value if we’re aren’t doing something? It’s a frequent question. But enabling the body to heal, rest, and renew is doing something important, and essential.

We live in a society whose lack of health is out of control. Rates of obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer, depression, anxiety, arthritis, general aches and pains, chronic fatigue, even the now-common acid reflux are off the charts. Rather than merely wishing more people had insurance so that they could get drugs to mask the symptoms of those ailments, perhaps an extra sensible approach is to educate people about the best way best to look after themselves from the start so a number of these diseases could be avoided.

Sleep well

Sleep and rest are crucial to keep and build a strong immune system. How many of you break, literally put down and put your feet up, once you’re tired? The body’s anti-stress mechanics, such as the adrenals, get to breathe a sigh of relief once the body is more likely and the feet and head are at rest. In this situation the tiger is no more nipping at your heels and the entire being understands it. Regeneration and recovery can occur.

When you feel tired it’s your signal your body (and mind) need to recharge. It’s that easy, however, a lot people have become so involved in our doing-more lifestyles which we ignore this simple sign. As you think about this most essential human desire and its role in your life, you will have the chance to handle the ways you avoid it. If you’re lucky, you will get to tackle why you avoid it. The solution is a diamond of self-awareness and comprehension.

As you become a person who can successfully break, you may end up addressing your drive and desire to become somebody, to be approved, to be significant. The procedure can reveal to you the ways you try to stop that nagging anxiety that comes every time you genuinely find quiet with yourself and allow yourself to be still. Nowadays true rest is somewhat more than simply saying,”Hey, lay down and put your feet up.” Underlying compulsions driven by an overscheduled society tend to keep people moving into the point of fatigue and depletion. So there’s an opportunity here to cure on several levels.

Conclusion

What if you truly got silent and allowed your whole being to just completely break? In silence? Well, I think you would feel really, truly good then. And I understand your immune system will be in a better position to safeguard you from this year’s bugs. Perhaps you’ll give it a go. Let your body heal and repair itself so it has the capacity to protect you from disease since it was supposed to do.
