The entire world is ravaging your skin! The stress of your work, the fast food that you catch on the run, the chlorine from the water out of the morning shower, the pollutants from the air you breathe, everything appears to conspire with each other to wear you out, and the lines in your face show it every day. Your skin is dry, your cuticles tough, your toes rough….where is that baby soft skin you remember from when you were younger?

Could it be your Skin care products?

Even when you’ve updated (and invested more) to get a”natural” or”organic” product, possibly one with images of soothing appearing green leaves or fresh sprigs of lavender on the label, what are you getting? Turn it over and look at the tag. Does it include any of the following?

      • Parabens – These preservative compounds are frequently found in skin and hair products, soaps and cosmetics. They’ve been shown to cause gastrointestinal and respiratory irritation, as well as reproductive problems in laboratory animals. They’ve been linked to cancer and hormone disruption.
      • Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate – These compounds act as lathering agents and are found in shampoos and soaps, and in non-lathering products like toothpastes and body lotions. By some estimates over 90 percent of personal care products contain these chemicals. They’re skin irritants since they work really well at removing oils. It’s believed they negatively affect the ability of our cells to keep and bind water… is that what you need in a moisturizer? They can be absorbed into the skin and for that reason also carry other compounds in at precisely the exact same time. They’re considered to denature proteins and damage hair follicles. And if all that is not bad enough, these chemicals are generally infected with the volatile cancer-causing chemical 1,4-dioxane (which will not appear in your products list of components ).
      • PEG, Polysorbates, Ethoxylated Alcohol – These components are extremely commonly contaminated with a chemical called 1,4-dioxane. But as it is a contaminant, you won’t see it on any labels. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has recorded it as a carcinogen, it’s an established eye and respiratory tract irritant, and it’s thought to cause damage to the kidneys, the central nervous system, and the liver. It’s very easily absorbed into the epidermis, and therefore in your own body. The best way to prevent this dangerous chemical is to avoid those that include it as an impurity.
      • Mineral Oil, Petrolatum (or Petroleum) and Paraffin – These are by-products of crude oil processing and they’re used since they’re abundant and cheap, and they make your skin feel smooth. In reality however, they form a sort of veneer over your pores, clogging them and creating a toxic buildup. They’re supposed to lead to cancer, increased aging and hormone disruption.
      • Propylene glycol – This is just another ingredient produced from crude oil. It’s added to the majority of moisturizers, antifreeze products, de-icing options for automobiles, airplanes, and ships, solvents in the paint and plastics industries, coatings, foods, polyester compounds, drugs, cosmetics. food colors, flavorings, tobacco, drugs, as a direct additive to food, and fragrance oils. It’s used to absorb additional water and keep moisture in certain medications, cosmetics, or food products, and functions as a solvent for food colors and flavors. It’s easily absorbed into the skin and is thought to cause damage to the kidneys and liver, irritate and dry the skin, and cause gastrointestinal and central nervous system disturbance.
      • Fragrance or parfum – Most products are scented with artificial odor, or parfum, and most of these contain toluene, a very dangerous compound made from coal tar or petroleum. It’s known to cause short term nausea and nervous system disturbance and long term liver, kidney, eyesight, memory and hearing damage.

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU LOOK YOUNGER? What your skin actually wants is to be nourished, from within and without. Your skin absorbs 50 to 60 percent of what you put on it, so in the event that you would not dream of putting it IN your body, why put it ON your body?
