Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) involves using Chinese herbal medicine, Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Qi gong, Tuina (Chinese massage), and a medicated diet, and is among the world’s most ancient medical systems, with its own principles, diagnostic procedures and therapies. It has become highly common in the west.

Meridians and Collaterals

TCM views the meridians and collaterals networks using Zang-Fu, that categorises cells and organs in an organic whole. Each Zang and Fu organ transports Qi and bloodstream, and modulates Yin and Yang, preserving the activities and functions of all areas of the body. This system guides the identification, treatment and program of all of the branch subjects of TCM.

Yin and Yang

TCM also holds as its central belief that health in all parts of body is a result of the association between Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang concept is the general principle used to classify in TCM’s holistic approach to health and disease, and also provides a clinical guide to preventing and treating illness.

Diagnosis

TCM’s analysis depends only on the physician’s sense organs to obtain clinical information. It mainly consists of the four methods of identification, namely: interrogation, inspection, auscultation (listening) and olfaction (smelling), pulse feeling and palpation.

Treatment

TCM contains three primary elements: Chinese herbal treatment, Acupuncture and Tuina (Chinese massage) therapy, and Diet therapy.

Chinese herbal therapy

This is based upon the principle that good health is dependent on attaining optimum energy and balance – a balance described concerning the polarity of Yin and Yang.

Chinese herbs come from nature, and include flowers, stems, leaves, roots and barks. Each herb has its own unique attributes. Their different traits are used to deal with disease, rectify the hyperactivity or hypoactivity of Yin or Yang, and help the body restore its normal physiological functions – consequently, curing the disease and restoring health.

Chinese herbal treatment (herbal dosages and powder forms) usually depends upon your condition, your constitution and age. It should be bigger for severe crises and stubborn problems with a youthful and powerful patient, smaller for moderate difficulties, and with the elderly, the frail, and with children and pregnant women.

The physician will carefully choose distinct herbal doses or powder forms to treat you as your treatment begins, and carefully monitor your progress through regular consultations. As your illness change, the treatment will be changed accordingly.

Acupuncture and Tuina treatment

These are two sensible therapies in TCM. They would be to modulate the meridians or channels of the body, to unblock the stagnation of Qi and bloodstream, and balance Yin and Yang, preserving their purpose, through the extraordinary points, scalp points, auricular points, and other specific factors by needle (in the case of Acupuncture) or from the fingers, hands and limbs of the Tuina therapist.

When using Tuina for baby and prenatal care, some distinctive points exist besides the acupoints on the 14 meridians and extra-points. Manipulation using pushing, kneading, rubbing is mainly used.

Diet Therapy

Each food (vegetable, fruit, meal, nut, etc.) has its own specific characteristics. We can lead you to the best foods to treat your condition, in accordance with the true state of disease, the characters and functions of these meals, and therapeutic requirements found via the physician’s consultation.

Other therapies

Moxibustion, Cupping therapy, Ear authority, Electrolysis, Electrotherapy (without needle) are frequently used. All of these operate by same principles of acupuncture treatment.
